Lookout Mountain Nature Center—Free self-guided walking
tours on a Colorado nature trail, as well as exhibits of
regional plant and animal life, await visitors to Lookout
Mountain.
PARKS AND
GARDENS
Denver Botanic Gardens—Located east
of Capitol Hill, the gardens provide a scenic display of
flowers and plants outdoors and an indoor, tropical conservatory.
Washington Park—This pleasant park
has a pedestrian/ cycling path, beautiful gardens and a
boathouse overlooking the lake.
ZOOS AND WILDLIFE
Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center—A
lush tropical environment containing nearly 2,000 free-flying
butterflies and insects from around the world. Not downtown,
but well worth the trip. The center also has nature trails.
Denver Zoo—Ranked among the nation's
top 10 zoos, the Denver Zoo has popular attractions including
a family of lowland gorillas at the Primate Panorama, the
Tropical Discovery exhibit, the Komodo Dragon exhibit and
Bird World.
Ocean Journey— Denver's world-class
aquarium makes it possible to explore the aquatic world,
even though it's thousands of miles away. You can take the
Indonesian River Journey through a jungle oasis, an emerald
forest and a coral lagoon, before winding up in. the depths
of the Pacific Ocean. You can also navigate the Colorado
River, from its origin through the desert canyons to the
Sea of Cortez.
